Aaron Wall points out in this video some easy marketing benefits to starting with a blog. I’m already sold on building sites based around word press, for sheer ease of use. When you consider all the additional ways blogging “spreads your word” with trackbacks and feeds, I need a very strong reason to consider any other platform for development. Continue reading »

I first jumped on board Google’s Webmaster Tools at Webmaster Central when they launched sitemaps. All the cool kids were doing it but I went for it with trepidation. I was still making a little money on some cheesy affiliate stores, and I didn’t want to let Google know about it too quickly. So I made multiple accounts, tried only showing parts of sites in site maps, ran a couple bots to update sitemaps, but it soon became more work and confusion than the results then could justify. I lost interest, and turned to other tracking and SEO tools. In spite of hearing from other webmasters how great webmaster tools had become, I still resisted. Continue reading »
