I sometimes read an authors entire collection in a short period, I go on fasts, immerse myself in learning a new instrument, take up the study of religions, take spontaneous vacations, join a band… once I even grew a full 12″ in fifth grade. Maybe it’s my addictive personality or maybe I enjoy new things or maybe both, but there is nothing like a new idea or a fresh start to invigorate me. It’s like any baseball team during spring training.

All the cool kids were doing it but I went for it with trepidation. I was still making a little money on some cheesy affiliate stores, and I didn’t want to let Google know about it too quickly. So I made multiple accounts, tried only showing parts of sites in site maps, ran a couple bots to update sitemaps, but it soon became more work and confusion than the results then could justify. I lost interest, and turned to other tracking and SEO tools. In spite of hearing from other webmasters how great webmaster tools had become, I still resisted. (more…)
